The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers (RCI) reimagines ways to support family caregivers so they can do more than just try to keep up – they can thrive.

There are 105M Caregivers in the United States who are currently caregiving for someone who is aging, ill, or disabled. Caregiving is a universal issue – everyone in their lifetime will receive or give care.

The need for care in the United States is outpacing what individuals can support.

We need solutions that can support family caregivers across families, cultures, and socioeconomic status.

For many, being a family caregiver is a meaningful experience – yet providing care has inherent difficulties because our systems are not set up to support family caregivers – yet.

The urgent needs facing family caregivers need systems and resources built and informed by the expertise of caregivers.

We aim to understand and articulate the complex challenges of caregiving to better optimize opportunities and solve issues that matter to family caregivers.

To accomplish this we:

Innovate

Research and implement new and better ways to provide support to caregivers.

Advocate

Elevate the perspectives of family caregivers and who they care for – so their experience can shape the future.

Collaborate

Engage all communities to shape inclusive, meaningful, and authentic connections – all to serve family caregivers.

Our Founder

Former First Lady of the United States

“There are only four kinds of people in the world–those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.”
