AMERICUS, GA – The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI) and HFC announced today a partnership to assist families navigating the care of loved ones with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
The collaboration provides a unique combination of coaching and respite relief and comes at a crucial moment. As we tackle this public health crisis, Alzheimer’s and dementia family caregivers need additional support now more than ever.
“It is important we work together across organizations to reach more caregivers in more ways, especially right now,” said Dr. Jennifer Olsen, executive director of RCI. “Our team at RCI is excited to expand our caregiving coaching model to families who could benefit from some additional training or better understand the need to take care of themselves.”
In addition to raising awareness about the needs of unpaid family caregivers, this partnership includes HFC’s In-Home Care Grant and piloting a virtual version of RCI’s Resources Enhancing Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health (RCI REACH) program.
“Caregiving for a loved one with Alzheimer’s can be isolating and exhausting,” said Bonnie Wattles, Executive Director of HFC. “By working with RCI, we hope to offer extra support and advice to caregivers to help them better work through the challenges they are facing.”
For more than 20 years, RCI REACH care coaches have equipped family caregivers with problem-solving and stress management skills. For the first time, these sessions will be conducted via phone, video chat, or email with caregivers.

About HFC:
Founded in 2012 by Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen, HFC is a national non-profit organization accelerating progress in Alzheimer’s care, prevention, and support. It is our mission to care for families contending with Alzheimer’s, educating young people about living a brain-healthy life, and activating the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates. To bring awareness to this disease, HFC has launched a Brain Health Dinner Series, hosted nine star-studded variety shows and one comedian-filled carnival, and is currently streaming on Netflix. To date, the organization has raised over $12 million dollars and awarded over 290,000 hours of in-home care relief to Alzheimer’s family caregivers through our North American In-Home Grant Program. In addition to providing caregiver respite, HFC organizes online support groups to build caregiver community and connectivity, engages young people across the country to become Alzheimer’s advocates, funds prevention-focused and brain-health research, and teaches people how to care for the health of their brains today, so they can reduce their risk tomorrow. While there isn’t a cure, there is care. Join us in bringing light to Alzheimer’s: www.wearehfc.org
