The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers Teams Up with Cigna Healthcare to Deliver Workshops for Dementia Caregivers

AMERICUS, GA (March 7, 2023) – The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers (RCI) is proud to collaborate with Cigna Healthcare to deliver 25 Dealing with Dementia (DWD) virtual workshops in 2023. The four-hour interactive sessions, offered virtually, will provide dementia caregivers with the tools they need to manage the challenges they may encounter along their caregiver journey.

“Participation in our Dealing with Dementia program has led to positive impact and clinically significant outcomes,” said Dr. Jennifer Olsen, chief executive officer of RCI. “Family caregivers participating in the program demonstrate increased knowledge and confidence in caregiving after workshop completion. We are excited to have Cigna Healthcare sponsor our program to continue to help dementia caregivers across the U.S. improve their health and wellbeing.”

“Caregivers often face many challenges when taking care of a loved one with dementia – from juggling appointments, managing medications, and navigating the emotional toll that comes with watching a loved one’s independence decline,” said Dr. J.B. Sobel, chief medical officer Cigna Healthcare Medicare. “By working with The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers, we can provide education to caregivers around the country about the resources available to help them care for their loved one with different types of dementia.  This support helps caregivers know they are not alone on this journey.”

Participants in DWD workshops will be mailed a free, comprehensive guide on a broad range of topics, including information about the stages of dementia, how dementia affects the brain, safety tips, managing medications, building a care and support team, and creating a dementia-friendly home environment.

This program is made available through a charitable sponsorship from Cigna Healthcare.
