2024 Schedule

Prepared Caregivers: Making Your Veteran Caregiver Disaster Preparedness Plan | Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time

Disasters can strike when we least expect or are prepared for them. Disasters can be devastating to caregivers of Veterans and those they care for. One of the best ways to decrease the stress and uncertainty of experiencing a disaster is to make your disaster preparedness plan. RCI understands that being a caregiver of a Veteran means that your preparedness plan will need to be tailored to your and the person you care for needs. During this workshop, RCI will walk caregivers of Veterans through what items should be in their emergency kit, key points in creating your disaster preparedness plan, and simple ways to navigate a disaster while caring for your Veteran.

Caregivers will learn:

  • What is disaster preparedness and why it is important for caregivers of Veterans.
  • What is an emergency kit and what items should be in prepared caregiver emergency kit.
  • How to better navigate disasters with those you care for.

Profiles of Resilience

RCI and Kennesaw State University’s Advancement of Military and Emergency Services (AMES) Center partnered on the Profiles of Resilience project. This project interviewed over 10 military and veteran caregiver families, where they shared their experiences and challenges, but most importantly celebrate the strength and resilience along their caregiving journey.
