Operation Caregiver Support

RCI partnered with Wounded Warrior Project© to launch Operation Caregiver Support (OCS), a virtual support group for post-9/11 military caregivers. OCS is designed to foster connections, cultivate new skills, and create a community of support. Caregivers are empowered to unlock new strategies for managing stress, creating a care team, encouraging each other to care for themselves, and much more. OCS also offers specialty support groups for Spanish-speaking caregivers and caregivers who are parents of service members and veterans. Groups meet twice monthly for one hour, on multiple days and times to meet every schedule.

General caregiver group:

1st and 3rd Tuesday 11 am – 12 pm ET

2nd and 4th Wednesday 2 pm – 3 pm ET

1st and 3rd Thursday 7 pm – 8 pm ET

Parents of service members or veterans caregiver group:

1st and 3rd Wednesday 4 pm – 5 pm ET

Spanish speaking caregiver group:

2nd and 4th Thursday 12 pm – 1 pm ET

OCS is free and delivered virtually, no matter where you live, by RCI’s Caregiver Coaches.

“I really needed this. This is the first time in a while that anyone asked how I was doing without prying. You know this is the only group that is really just for me. No matter what I am going through, y’all are like family and get it.”

One-On-One Caregiver Coaching

OFC is free and delivered virtually, no matter where you live, by RCI’s Caregiver Coaches in both English and Spanish.

Operation Family Caregiver

Operation Family Caregiver (OFC) is an evidence-based, one-on-one coaching program serving family and friends who are caring for service members and veterans from all service eras. Coaches work with caregivers over a series of eight sessions, teaching skills tailored to each caregiver’s unique needs, including problem-solving, self-care, stress management, and safety.

Caregivers are paired with specially trained caregiver coaches, and together develop strategies that can help them get through the tough times and make plans for how to manage over the long term. They develop new skills that make the difficult decisions they face feel more manageable and achievable.

These changes build confidence and empower caregivers to make decisions that lead to improvements in their own lives and the lives of their families.

We don’t live the worst, by far, though it doesn’t take much to get into the darkness very quickly. That’s one thing I didn’t realize on this journey. I was looking for anybody who had walked the road, and once I found Operation Family Caregiver, I said, ‘oh, this sounds like what I need’.
